Wilma Joyce Phillips Carl

Wilma Joyce Phillips Carl, 91 of Catoosa, OK, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013. She was born February 18, 1922 in Galena, Kansas to Will and Ruby Phillips, at an early age the family moved to Picher, OK where her dad worked in the mines. She attended grade school and graduated from Picher High School in 1940. She married Jim on April 8, 1944 in Tallahassee, FL where Jim was in the Air force. While he was gone in the service, she worked in an Ammunition plant in Parson, Kansas. After the war she and Jim Moved to Tulsa where she was in the Real Estate Business for several years with her business partner Glen Harkey.

She devoted much of her life to helping others in need. She was always a gracious host to their many friends, especially Jim’s pilot friends She was of the Methodist Faith.

Wilma was survived by her husband Jim of 69 years and 5 months. Also by nieces Debbie Bunce of Miami, OK. Sherri Stone and husband Randy of Marshville, Mo. Nephews Phillip Suman of Quapaw, OK , Richie Barnes of Grove, OK, Todd Barnes and Tyson Barnes of Miami, OK. Niece Michelle Barnes of Sapulpa, Ok,nephew Freddie Logan of Miami, OK. and a host of friends.

She will leave a void in the lives of her friends and relatives.

Graveside services will be Wednesday September 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Oklahoma. Services are under the directions of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami, OK.
