Roy W. Vandiver, Jr. of Miami, OK passed away Thursday May 14, 2015 at his home. He was 88.

Roy was born March 29, 1927 in Picher, OK to Roy W. and Martha Melinda (Herd) Vandiver. He graduated from Picher High School class of 1947 and had lived in the Picher and Miami area all his life. Roy served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a mechanic at B.F. Goodrich for 24 years. He was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union and Experimental Aircraft Assn. He was of the Assembly of God Faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters Mildred Jennings, Anna Mae Cooper and Florence Turley.

Roy married Penny (Gabisan) December 8, 1999 and she survives of the home. Additional survivors include his son Glen Stephen Vandiver of Billings, MO, 3 daughters Maria Lynette Jennings of Rosamond, CA, Aleta Jean Fox of Seneca, MO., Cynthia G. Vandiver of Miami, OK., 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Celebration of Life Services will be Tuesday May 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK. Fr. Carl Kerkemeyer and Rev. Bob Barker will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Services have been placed in the care of Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, OK.
