Ramona Sue Maute, 70, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, in Wyandotte, Okla., with her family surrounding her.

Ramona was born March 19, 1943, in Picher, Okla., to the union of Wilburn Sr. and Evelyn Jane (Dykes) Thomas. She attended school in Little Rock, Ark., before moving to Picher in 1968. After graduating, she attended Beauty School in Miami and opened her own Beauty Salon in Picher from 1970 to 1986. She then was united in marriage to Paul Richard Maute in Rogers, Ark., on May 7, 1986. They moved to Baxter Springs in 1986, and Ramona continued her business as Ramona's Beauty Shop. In 2006, Ramona closed her beauty shop for retirement. Ramona was a member of the First Baptist Church in Picher, for many years.

Ramona is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; and stepson, Ricky Maute.

She is survived by one son, John Randall "Randy" Jackson, of Wyandotte; two stepsons, Daryl Maute, of Battleground, Wash., and Terry Maute, of Battleground; two brothers, Wilburn "Tommy" Thomas Jr., of Picher, and Eddie Gene Pannell, of Little Rock; one sister, Amanda Jane Peterson, of Commerce, Okla.; two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren and 13 step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 15, at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel. Pastor Wayne Wall will officiate. Family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m. at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel.

Memorial donations may be made to Joplin Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
