Lester “Junior” L. Abernathy age 83
passed away Friday, March 19, at the
Oklahoma VA Center in Talihina, Ok. He
was born on Jan. 2 1927 in
Douthat, Ok. the son of Lester L. Sr.
and Verna (Karnes) Abernathy.
He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper
in WW2. After his service
to the military he worked his entire
life on his farm working his cattle
and row cropping.
He was preceded in death by his parents
and brother, Bob Abernathy.
He survived by 3 brothers, Jack
Abernathy, Jim Abernathy and Gene
Abernathy all of Quapaw, Ok. and 3
sisters, Marie Bennett of
Joplin, Mo., Joyce Fender of Tulsa, Ok.
And Dorothy Wheelin of
St. Louis, Mo. and other relatives and
many friends.
Funeral services for Lester “Junior” L.
Abernathy will be held 10 a.m.
Wednesday, March 24, at Paul Thomas
Funeral Home in Miami, Ok. With Rev.
Jerry Von Moss officiating. Interment
will be in the G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening
from 6 p.m. to 7pm. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Furnas, Nolan
Babb, Kim Plumb, Allen Gleaves, Tony
Murray and Larry Houser.
