Evelyn Jane Cooke, 91 of Baxter Springs, Kan. formerly of Picher, Okla. passed from this life Saturday, August 18, 2012 at home with family. Evelyn was born March 31, 1921 in Chelsea, Oklahoma to the union of Jewlius Otto and Cora Evelyn (Mizer) Dykes. She worked as a nurse for the Missouri Pacific Railroad Hospital, Little Rock, AR for twenty one years. She was a member of the Cherokee Nation. Her favorite thing to do was read. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother J.O. “Sonny” Dykes. She is survived by two sons, Wilburn “Tom” Thomas Jr. of Picher, Okla., and Eddie Pannell of Bryant, Ark.; two daughters Ramona Maute of Baxter Springs, Kan., and Amanda Peterson of Commerce, Okla.; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. |
