Doris L. Smith

Doris L. Smith of Commerce, Okla., passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, in Commerce. She was 85.

She was born May 13, 1926, in Chanute, Kan., to Clyde and Alice (Lacy) Trammell. She moved to Picher, Okla., in 1955 from Girard, Kan. She was a Homemaker and a Christian. She attended Tri-State Fellowship in Cardin, Okla. She married James Franklin Smith Sr. Sept. 29, 1947. He preceded her in death.

 

She is also preceded in death by her parents, two sons James Franklin Jr., John Lawrence and one daughter Martha Livesay.

Survivors include: eight sons, Marvin McCullough and wife Juanita of Buffalo, S.C., Dana Smith and wife Lisa of Hutchinson, Kan., Bill Smith and wife Pak of Cudahy, Wis., Jeffrey Wayne Smith and wife Sharon of Quapaw, Okla., Larry Smith and wife Sue of Quapaw, Okla., Tom Smith of Commerce, Okla., Bo Smith and wife Brenda of Quapaw, Okla., Randy Livesay of Newton, Kan.; two daughters, Gail Gorszczyk of McPherson, Kan., Ruth Renfro and husband Ed of Seneca, Mo., two brothers, Jack Trammell and wife Imogene of Hutchinson, Kan., Vern Laughlin and wife Gloria of Gravette, Ark.; five sisters, Gladys Self of Cave Springs, Ark., Jean Testerman of Anderson, Mo., Hazel Thurman and husband Eugene of Pineville, Mo., Edna Mitchell and husband Elmer of Greenfield, Mo., Opel Hanes and husband Jack of Goodman, Mo.; 39 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Service for Doris will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012, at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Commerce, Okla. The Rev. Charles Clevenger will officiate. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery north of Treese, Kan. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Family will receive fiends on Thursday from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
