Clyde Willard Newcomb of Vinita died
Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Craig General
Hospital in Vinita. He was 86.
Mr. Newcomb was born Sept. 16, 1923, in
Irondale, Mo., to Elmer and Bessie
(Lawson) Newcomb. He moved to the Picher
area in 1968 from Southern California.
He was a World War II veteran of the
Army. He worked in the lead and zinc
mines in the Picher area and for U.S.
Borex in Boron, Calif. He was a member
of the Cardin Baptist Church and a
lifetime member of the Disabled American
Veterans.
He married Alta Jean Shepherd on Nov.
14, 1983. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include one
step-son, Kevin Lewallen of Vinita; one
brother, Richard Patterson of Narcissia,
and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents
and two brothers, Howard Newcomb and
Blondie Newcomb.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at
Greenlawn Cemetery, northwest of
Treece, Kan. The Rev. Jerry VonMoss will
officiate.
Military rites will be conducted by the
American Legion Post No. 140 Funeral

Pallbearers will be Kevin Lewallen,
Derrick Lewallen, Mitchell Ichhorn,
Caleb Ichhorn and Jackson Ichhorn.
