Virginia Lee Box who lived in Picher and Commerce most all her life died Thursday, April 25th, 2013.

She was born December 10, 1926 to Donal and Doris (Rigg) Hance. She graduated from Picher High School in May, 1945. She immediately went to work for the Walter McCracken Insurance Agency in Commerce and attended Business School in Miami. She soon bought his agency when he retired and changed the name to Box-Hallock Agency. She owned the agency for nearly 40 years before she sold the business and retired in the late 80's. She was a member of the Mid-Century Mother’s Club in Commerce for many years and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Commerce, OK. She married Leo Box on January 17, 1947. He preceded her in death in 2001.

Family members include her daughter, Mary Lou Sample and husband Mike of Spring Hill, KS. Her Grandson Curtis Sample of Overland Park, KS and her Granddaughter Emily Tegtmeier and husband Chad in Olathe, KS. She adored her three precious Great Grandsons, Grayson, Cainen and Easton Tegtmeier of Olathe, KS. She had one sister, Dona Sue White of Pecan Gap, Tx and one brother-in-law J. C. Box and wife Beverly of Miami as well as several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her funeral service will be held at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, Oklahoma on Monday, April 29th at 10:00 a.m. with visitation being held on the Sunday evening prior at 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
