Flora Lee (Collins) Powell

 

Flora L. Powell passed away April 22, 2011
at Eastwood Manor in Commerce, Oklahoma. She was 98.

Mrs. Powell was born to Henry and Mary Louisa (Tucker) Collins
  January 26, 1913 in Tigertown, Texas. She lived Yuba, Oklahoma
 before moving to Cardin, Oklahoma in
1939. She lived next to and worked
as a custodian for Cardin Baptist Church and worked as a cook at
Picher High School Cafeteria for many years.

She married Hubert Powell June 23, 1932 in Hugo, Oklahoma and he preceded her
in death June 15, 1986. Also preceding her in death are her parents, 5 brothers,
3 sisters, son-in-law Jim Coble and 2 grandchildren Jack Darren Abernathy
and Terry Powell. Survivors include: two sons, Collins Powell and wife Neva
of Miami, Oklahoma, and Jerry Powell and wife Gail of Hartford, Connecticut;
two daughters, Betty Feeley and husband Keith of Joplin, Missouri, and Patsy Abernathy and husband Jack of Quapaw, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Services were 2 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home
in Miami, Oklahoma. The Rev. C.C. Craig officiated.

Internment was at Greenlawn Cemetery northwest of Treece, Kansas.

Pallbearers were:
 Dan Powell, Jeff Powell, Josh Powell, Ian Powell,
Casey Abernathy and Todd Abernathy.

Services were under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami,
