Gene E. “Dub” Huffman of Commerce died
Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008,
at his home after an illness. He was 81.
Mr. Huffman was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Picher
to Ray Oliver and Francis Lee
(Boroughs) Huffman. He lived in the area the
rest of his life.
He
was a World War II veteran of the Army,
serving in occupied Japan.
He was a bookkeeper for The Landis Steel
Company of Picher for more than 33 years.
He was a member of Picher Masonic Lodge. He
was a member of the
Christian Church in Cardin for many years.
He married Patsy Earlene Parkison on June 3,
1951, in Cardin. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include one son and his
wife, Rick and Jolene Huffman of Picher;
one daughter and her husband, Debbie and Gaylen Urie
of Chelsea;
one sister, Muriel Penrod of Claremore, six
grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; two
stepmothers, Faye Huffman and
Edith Huffman, and one sister, Maxine.
Services were at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in
Picher. Max Adams officiated.
Burial was in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.
Pallbearers were Jason Huffman, Gaylen Urie
Jr., Adam Urie,
Michael Urie, Gabriel Huffman and Justin
Huffman.
