Bertha Marie (Turner) Crabtree

Bertha Marie Crabtree, age 68 of Quapaw, OK went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, Mo with her family surrounding her.

Bertha was born October 9, 1942 in Picher, OK to the union of James Frederick and Ethel Bessie (Lincoln) Turner. They both precede her in death. Bertha attended and graduated from Picher High School, class of 1962. She was united in marriage
 June 8, 1964 in Columbus, Ks to Harry Benton Crabtree.

Bertha worked as a sewing machine operator for Glenn berry for eighteen years and then King Louie nineteen years. If you knew Bertha, she was anxious to get back to work from her current sickness. She enjoyed sewing and going to garage sales looking for great deals. She loved the outdoors where she could attend to her garden and then canned her produce. Most of all she cherished time spent with her grandchildren and being around her family and friends.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry Crabtree and Six brothers Robert Turner, Claud Turner, Herbert Turner, Les Turner, Earl Turner, and Raymond Turner, and three son-in-laws Jeff Abernathy, Bert Mains and John Wesley Williams Sr.; one step son, Harry Benton Jr.; one grandson, Billy Gene Williams; and one great-grandson, James Wesley Williams Jr. She is survived by five children Pam Reynolds and husband Leonard, Charlene Hawes and husband Stanley, Carlene Dunbar and husband Mack, Virginia Abernathy, and Ruby Mains; four brothers Howard Turner, Carl Turner, Donald Turner, and Jerry Turner; grandchildren, Lois Bishop, Sharon West, Tammy Williams, Connie Turner, Donna Brown, James Williams, Amy Williams, Carey Williams, Mary Forsythe, Kimberly Woodard, Amber Woodard, Jewell Dunbar, Anthony Dunbar, Shanon Greenlee and husband Brian, Daniel Hawes and wife Amanda, Sara Hawes, and Melissa Hawes; along with several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel. Rev. Ray Clonts will officiate the services. Burial will follow in Newman Cemetery.
