The area marked by the yellow box is the four
blocks of Main Street that were condemned in 1950 because of the possibility of a cave in was deemed imminent. That marked the beginning of the end of Picher, Oklahoma. Now, (2015) 65 years later that area has not collapsed, but the entire town, along with Cardin and Treece, KS has been bought out and destroyed because of the "possibility" of collapse. |
